little miss sunshine [A+]

moviemcpeake snippet: Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Laughed hard and often. I was expecting a more Wes Anderson feel (dark and quirky), however it had a much brighter tone mixed with a deeper story that made you laugh at the absurdity yet in the end you found yourself loving all the characters. The best is no hollywood ending. The story was perfectly executed with a strong ensemble (including two oscar nominations). Although I know it can never win an oscar for best picture, it won my film of the year award (for whatever that is worth).

recommendation: own it

had to add some good film comments from a friend...

So, we finally watched Little Miss Sunshine tonight. I loved it. Dwayne cracked me up through the whole thing. At the end, when Olive started stripping, I was laughing and crying--crying from my laughter but also in feeling bad for her, then I started crying more when her family danced with her, but then it was from that happy/sappy feeling you get whenever something is really touching. It's hard to describe. That's what I loved about the movie though, that I went through so many emotions. It's a great movie.
