moviemcpeake snippet: ehh. this film could have been fantastic because the storyline was already there from the great memories of Augusten Burrough. so what went wrong? i don't think the screenplay did a great job of setting the story up and then it felt like nothing that crazy ever REALLY happened (which is the biggest focal of the story). it was too safe. this film should have been an edgy, humorous absurd family film depicting the true story of Augusten's life. i know, i know, the book is always better than the movie but this book was so visually appealing (my mind was playing the scene as my eyes read the words) it seemed like an easy crossover instead it ending up only being another great showcase of annette bening's talent.

recommendation: read the book

the cave of the yellow dog [B]

moviemcpeake snippet: oh my god, how cute are these kids!?! this is just an interesting documentary film that provides beautiful scenery, culture, and moments of dialog. it does not give any background information but plops you into their lives and you follow them for the next several hours. it was relaxing and cute. recommend for a relaxing night for two and your dog ;)

So I decided instead of doing all the web development myself, I would use a free popular content tool. Basically moviemcpeake is finally becoming more interactive. I am in the process of moving everything over from the old site. The best part is now you can post your opinion as well, which is what I wanted all along. A space among friends to discuss serious and non-serious aspects of films.

For those of you that are new to moviemcpeake, I love films from independents to cheesy blockbusters. This site which started years ago was spreading the word on lesser known films. I stopped writing full reviews (too little time) and now write snippets, grade each film, and provide an easy to understand recommendation. So when you don't know what film you want to see next, come here first.
